Seftron just tipped me to this and since she's allergic to posting I thought I'd share it with everyone. I'm too confused about this to even muster up my own words, so I guess I'll just copy and paste from link: MTV's Best Songs of 2008
"32. The Silver Jews, "Party Barge"
A honky-tonk song about a wayward party pontoon, as sung by a nasally poet/cartoonist from Virginia and his wife who used to work in an office park. It opens with a bit of bathroom-wall philosophy ("Father drove a steamroller/ Mama was a crossing guard/ She got rolled when he got steamed/ And I got left in charge"), goes on to mention "Satan's jeweled lobster" and "chicken-fried pigeon," and features more nautical sound effects than any other tune released this decade. There is nothing not to love."
That nasally "poet/cartoonist" has a name...and it's God. But I would have also accepted David Berman. Name dropping works a lot better when you keep the wikipedia page open long enough to actually find out the name that you're dropping.
This guy might be the "hip" writer for MTV or something, but I'm still very much confused that this is on the site of a company that brought you Paris Hilton's New BFF, A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila and Limp Bizkit.
Also on the list: Deerhunter, New Age and Kid Rock (baw wit da baw)
a moment of zen
